Best skydiving in Pattaya: choosing between the two dropzones

Pattaya Skydiving is a booking desk, not a dropzone. It places you at one of the two licensed dropzones on the Chonburi coast, both of which fly out over the Gulf of Thailand and use the same jump profile. The desk sits at 596/6-7, Pattaya City, and is open daily 08:00–18:00.

There is no "better" jump, because the altitude, the freefall time, the gear standard and the instructor certification are the same at both. What differs is the package menu. Only Thai Sky Adventures offers handcam and an outside cameraman on one jump, and its outside-cameraman VIP, which adds photos, is ฿500 cheaper than the VIP at Dropzone Thailand. What a tandem skydive actually is

Your harness is clipped to the instructor's harness at four points, and the instructor wears the parachute system. You share the exit, the freefall and the landing, but every decision in the air is the instructor's, which is why a first-timer can jump the same day they arrive.

Every tandem rig at both Pattaya dropzones carries a main parachute, a reserve parachute and an automatic activation device. The AAD is a small computer that opens the reserve if the rig is still in freefall below a set altitude. What to expect on the day

The whole visit takes about 4 to 5 hours on site, of which about one minute is freefall. Times are approximate; weekends and holidays are busier.

Check-in and the briefing

At the desk you show ID, sign the waiver, step on the scales and pay in cash (Thai baht); card or bank transfer can be arranged on request. The briefing is short because a tandem passenger has only three jobs: the head-back exit position at the door, the arch (hips forward, legs bent, arms out when signalled) that keeps the pair stable in freefall, and legs lifted for the landing slide. Hand signals replace speech in freefall, and you practise them on the ground.

The door and 60 seconds of freefall

At 13,000 ft the door opens and the noise and wind arrive at once. You shuffle to the edge with your instructor and leave the aircraft together. Freefall does not feel like falling, because the aircraft is already moving forward when you exit and within seconds the wind supports your body at roughly 200 km/h. You can breathe normally; people who think they could not were holding their breath from surprise, which is why instructors tell you to shout or smile at the door.

Two and a half minutes under canopy

The opening is a firm, smooth pull upward, then near silence. The instructor loosens the harness so you can sit comfortably, points out the islands off Pattaya Bay, and often hands over the steering toggles for a minute. Coming in to land, you lift your legs as briefed and the instructor flares the canopy for a slide or a couple of steps. Why Pattaya

Most dropzones in the world sit over farmland, desert or an airfield. Both Pattaya dropzones exit over the Gulf of Thailand, so the first thing you see when the door opens is water, the Chonburi coastline and the islands off Pattaya Bay. Under canopy you have about two and a half minutes to take it in.

The logistics are the second argument. Who can jump: age, weight and fitness

The minimum age is 12 with a guardian's consent, and under-18s need a parent or guardian to sign at check-in. The weight limit is around 100 kg, and a small surcharge may apply above 90 kg because heavier pairs need a larger canopy. There is no stated upper age limit; fitness matters more than age, because you need to arch in freefall and lift your legs for landing. Weather and what happens if a load is cancelled

Weather at the Pattaya dropzones is assessed load by load, not day by day. Three things stop a load: wind above the limits, cloud between the aircraft and the landing area, and rain heavy enough to hurt at 200 km/h. If any of those appear, your load waits or moves to the next slot, the reschedule is free, there is no change fee, and if you are leaving Thailand the deposit is refunded.

1. Choose a dropzone and a package, or ask the desk to recommend one for your group size and camera preference.
2. Send a request through the booking form, WhatsApp (+66 91 758 4642), LINE or Telegram, with your preferred date, number of jumpers and hotel name for pickup.
3. Wait for confirmation. No prepayment is taken on the website and the desk never asks for card details over chat.
4. Pay in cash (Thai baht) at the dropzone desk on the day, or ask in advance for card or bank transfer.
