The dropzone

A small field,
a short walk,
one door.

Nothing about this place is a terminal. You park, you walk past the packing tables, and you can see the aircraft that is going to take you up from the moment you sign in. The whole operation lives between the manifest desk and the grass, which is exactly why the day moves so fast.

The camera crew works out of the same shed as the riggers. That is the practical reason Thai Sky Adventures can run four packages instead of three: the cameraman is on site, on the load, and briefed with you rather than booked in from somewhere else.

Aircraft type and briefing languages depend on the load you are manifested onto, so we confirm both with the operator when we lock your slot. We would rather leave two rows blank than print something you cannot hold us to.

The jump is identical in all four. Every one of them is a tandem from 13,000 ft with about 60 seconds of freefall, a full ground briefing, all gear and a jump certificate. The ฿4,550 between the bottom and the top of this ladder buys footage, nothing else.

Prices include hotel pickup around Pattaya on request. Weather reschedules are always free. VIP+ exists at Thai Sky Adventures only, and it is the only package here with a handcam, so if two angles are the point, this is the dropzone.

This is the one decision on this page that is hard to undo. You cannot re-shoot a first jump. Here is honestly what each option puts on your phone that evening, and what it leaves out.

3 ways to film it

Deluxe

Outside cameraman video

A second skydiver leaves the door with you and flies your speed, filming from three or four metres away. You get the edited video the same day.

  • You, full body, falling. The shot people actually believe
  • The aircraft shrinking above you after the exit
  • The canopy opening, filmed from outside
  • Video only, no photo set
  • Faces are smaller, so the reaction is less readable

VIP

Video + photos

The same outside cameraman and the same edited video as Deluxe, plus a photo set of your jump.

  • Stills you can post or print without screenshotting a video
  • The exit and the canopy opening as frames, not just clips
  • Still one angle, filmed from outside
  • No handcam, so no close up of your face at the door

Suits you if You want the film and the pictures, for ฿500 more than Deluxe.

VIP+

Both angles + photos

Outside cameraman and a handcam on your instructor's wrist on the same jump, cut together into one film, plus a photo set. The handcam only comes with VIP+, and Thai Sky Adventures is the only Pattaya dropzone that sells it.

    Check in at the desk

    Paperwork, weight confirmed on the scale, package confirmed. If you booked a camera option this is where the crew learns your name.

    Ground briefing

    Body position, the arch, where your hands go at the exit, what happens under canopy, how to lift your legs for landing. Ask everything now.

    Gear and instructor pairing

    Harness fitted and tightened twice, goggles, and your instructor introduces himself. Deluxe, VIP and VIP+ meet the cameraman here too.

    Waiting for your load

    This is the longest part of the day. Loads go up in order, and weather, other jumpers and the camera crew all set the pace. Bring water, find some shade, and watch the canopies come in. An hour or two here is normal.

    Manifest and boarding

    Your load is called. Straps checked one last time on the way to the aircraft, then you shuffle in and sit on the floor.

    Climb to 13,000 ft

    The coast opens up on the way. Halfway up, your instructor tightens the harness onto his own rig and the noise of the engine becomes the only conversation.

    The door

    It opens and the temperature drops. On Deluxe, VIP and VIP+ the cameraman climbs outside first and hangs off the frame, filming back at you. Then you lean.

    Freefall

    About 60 seconds at roughly 200 km/h. Long enough to stop panicking, start looking, and forget both.

    Canopy flight

    The rig opens, you sit up in the harness, and the volume drops to nothing. About two and a half minutes over the water, so roughly three and a half minutes from the door to the ground. You can steer if you want to.

    Landing and certificate

    Legs up, slide in, stand up on a slightly unreliable pair of knees. Jump certificate signed on the grass.

    Footage handover

    Deluxe, VIP and VIP+ videos are edited and delivered the same day, with the photo set on VIP and VIP+. The edit is what stretches the day to four or five hours. Eco jumpers can leave with the certificate and the memory, which is the entire point of Eco.

Before you come

The unglamorous
but useful part.

Read this once and you will not be the person holding up the load. Everything here is what we tell people on WhatsApp anyway, so it may as well be written down.

Bring this

  • Passport or ID for the manifest
  • Sneakers that lace up tight, no sandals
  • Comfortable sportswear you can move in
  • Sunscreen and water for the wait
  • Your hotel name if you want pickup
  • A guardian, in person, if you are under 18

Leave this behind

  • Your own GoPro. Personal cameras are not allowed on tandem jumps
  • Loose jewellery, watches, hats and anything in an open pocket
  • Flip flops and slip-on shoes
  • Alcohol. Anyone who has been drinking does not board, no argument

Weather, and what happens if the day is scrubbed

How the call gets made

Loads fly only when cloud base and wind are inside limits. That call belongs to the operator on the day and it is made from the field, not from a forecast app. Safety wins every time, and nobody at the dropzone will pretend otherwise to keep a booking.

If your slot is scrubbed

We rebook you free, on the next available load or the next morning. There is no prepayment, so you are not chasing anyone for money. If you are flying out of Thailand and cannot come back, your deposit is refunded.

If you need to cancel

Tell us as early as you can and the slot goes to someone else. We confirm availability first and secure your slot after, so an early message costs you nothing and helps the manifest.
